- Why the Internet?
- Why choose a web-based system?
- What is the technical platform that the product is built on?
- What are the minimum system requirements?
Providing software as a service enables customers to lease, rather than buy, software that is delivered via the Internet instead of installed on a computer.
SPS Charter Management Solutions provides this innovative technology to charter management companies as an Application Service Provider (ASP), enabling you
to spend more time managing your yachts rather than managing technology. Back to top
- Accessibility to Your System - Increase efficiency of your charter business by having the ability to access
and update data, view reports, control inventory, and manage operations from anywhere in the world...at any time.
- Feature-Rich Solutions - Offers instant communication to the charter community and provides the means
for powerful features such as eCommerce, last second promotions, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to help market your
yachts.
- Reduced Hardware Expense - Companies that use SPS Charter Management Solutions do not need to purchase and maintain expensive
servers and back-up systems. Cost is also reduced by decreasing in-house network requirements and system administration...we do all of that for you!
- Data Integrity - Our system keeps multiple (up to the second) back-up copies of vital yacht or administrative specific data.
Charter firm owners gain peace of mind knowing that their data is always backed up and disaster recovery time is greatly reduced.
- Security - Your company data is protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and security technology provided by VeriSign. This technology
uses digital certificates and strong encryption to gain access to our web servers and also protects your data during transmission.
- Instant Upgrades - New versions and feature upgrades are available to you immediately and are automatically installed via the Internet.
No more diskettes and CDs to install.

The SPS Charter Management Solutions product was built on the Microsoft.NET architectural platform using Microsoft.NET tools and technologies. Microsoft Visual
Studio.NET was used as the Integrated Development Environment for building the ASP.NET web forms and the VB.NET business components. The product stores all data
in a Microsoft SQL Server database. The web application was designed and built using an n-tier architectural pattern, distributed over the following logical tiers:
- Database Access Layer - The Database Access Layer consists of the SQL Server database, the stored procedures that access the data, and a data access component
that provides an encapsulated interface to the database.
- Business Logic Layer - The Business Logic Layer consists of the VB.NET components that encapsulate all the business logic of the application.
- Presentation Layer - The Presentation Layer consists of the ASP.NET web application pages.
SPS used the Microsoft Patterns and Practices application blocks for the application infrastructure components, such as security and exception processing. The
Microsoft Patterns and Practices represent industry standard best practices for software development. In addition, all transmission of sensitive data is performed
over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) using a secure certificate issued by Verisign. Back to top
